Physician Advisory Committee
The Physician Advisory Committee (PAC) plays a key role in the POCRC. Translational research has to be both responsive and carried back to the physician community and patients. To that end the committee's role is to 1) provide clinical and scientific guidance for research protocols ensuring they adequately address clinical issues, 2) facilitate implementation of recruitment protocols in home institutions; and 3) convey research findings back to the community.
The PAC consists of 60 physicians representing multiple medical specialties including gynecological and medical oncology, internal medicine, obstetrics-gynecology and primary care who have expressed interest in the SPORE and agreed to participate. Contact with a majority is maintained via mailings and e-mails. Approximately 10-12 physicians attend the semi-annual meetings. The focus of the meetings is to present the progress and goals of the research program and obtain feedback particularly with respect to recruitment strategies, participant materials and feasibility.
