What is the POCRC Advocacy Group?

An essential and innovative part of the Pacific Ovarian Cancer Research Consortium (POCRC) is the Advocacy Group. As ovarian cancer survivors, family members, or anyone whose life has been affected by ovarian cancer, advocates are able to offer new approaches and ideas to enrich the research process.

What do POCRC Advocates do?

Advocates work side by side with researchers and bring the patient's voice and experience into the research setting. They are essential in communicating patient needs to researchers and educating the public. Advocates are invited to participate in the POCRC by providing guidance in research, increasing awareness and attending scientific seminars.

What is the mission of the POCRC Advocacy Group?

To serve as a bridge between the overall scientific program of the POCRC and the community so that the program works towards meeting the needs of the patient.

What are the goals of the POCRC Advocacy Group?

  • Keep informed of current research studies by attending scientific seminars and patient advocacy meetings.
  • Shape the direction of scientific research by participating in proposal planning and reviewing new research applications.
  • Assist with the implementation of research by developing and refining recruitment materials.
  • Provide community outreach.

How can I get involved in the POCRC Advocacy Group?
